Interviews With Wisconsin Badger Players Will Smith And Ari Van Mol
After a 3-1 victory against non-conference opponent, Marquette University, I had the chance to talk to Badger captain Will Smith and fullback Ari Van Mol about what it means to play for their hometown university at the collegiate level.
Captain Will Smith and Whitefish Bay native, played in all 90 minutes against Marquette. His leadership and fearlessness as a center back has helped the Badgers start the season undefeated. Keeping clean sheets in each of his first three matches against St. Mary’s, Oakland, and Western Michigan. Although they allowed their first goal against this season, Smith credits the overall mindset and team effort as to how they manage to play so sound defensively.
Will Smith discusses his role as a captain.
Wing back Ari Van Mol, from Middleton, didn’t start the match but played the entire second half of the game. His path from playing at Middleton High School his freshman and sophomore years, to playing with SC Wave MLS Next, to eventually being signed to the Minnesota United Academy is certainly unique. Being a hometown kid, he raves about being able to finally play as a Badger.
Ari Van Mol walks us through his path to college.
